First and foremost, this had a really tight story that delivered a satisfying conclusion. As always, such special effects are impressive in a 48 Hours films. Lackluster technical execution (camerawork, audio) was not enough to detract from the funny script and solid structure. My favorite film of its heat.

Travellin Boozeman

Technically competent, but a failure to convincingly integrate the required character, line of dialouge, and lackluster application of the Musical genre (a hard one, I know, but that's the point) undermine this film substantially. The opening shot was as beautiful as it was compelling, but from there the film seemed to have to rely on admittedly pretty visuals and voice over songs to carry the audience along, rather than any real story. I'm not sure what the plot was beyond the "can't remember last night" premise. Otherwise it was a relatively well polished short.

Sharp Edges

Relatively well shot, this film did a great job of ramping up the tension, and gets my vote for the best cinematographic portrayal of an (insane) insomniac. On the other hand, there wasn't really a story present, there was no setting of the scene, and while there was a climax, there was no conclusion.

Closing in Five

Slick production values and competant acting kept me engaged; it was only upon later reflection that I realised that the structure of the film was only loosely woven together. The flashback of the police-officer seemed to promise some sort of action-packed finale, but turned out to be unrelated and irrelevant. I didn't feel like the genre (converging storylines) was very well utilised here, there was only one real story, the other was merely a scene. Dialogue was pretty hard to understand in places. Otherwise, it was a well-polished film.
