2023
Clever concept, but a bit uneven in places. Somewhat mixed acting effort, but some amusing scripting. Generally well filmed.
Swat
Nicely done, didn't exactly telegraph the ending but it was pretty clear once the sound effect sleep track was shown. Enjoyed the acting, slightly shaky camera and focus at times but nothing major. good sound & editing, not too heavy handed. Nice superhero costume made up out normal home items (every home has nunchucks, right?). Enjoyed the gratuitous use of bread. My only real criticism might be that since the antagonist was not an actual character, wasn't even an actual mosquito, and therefore had no intention of playing the 'mouse', it doesn't quite fit the cat and mouse genre.
Clean Getaway
Excellent acting and cinematography, great plot & script, if a tiny bit predictable. Makeup was also awesome. No idea why this isn't a finalist. A great effort, no obvious flaws, well worth watching.
Dangerous Interchange
Awesome intro clip, nice opening shot, but over way too soon. I felt the idea had some legs, did you run out of time?
Toasted
Nice fun story, but I couldn't get past the fact that the toaster electrocuted the first guy without being plugged in, and I could see the damn string when you were pulling it around. I would have forgiven the first bit but you went to the trouble of showing it plugging itself in later for the second kill! Electrocution scene effects were a bit longwinded the second time. Some nice shots throughout, and some funny dialogue from the cops briefing room. Also liked the use of the oh really line! Whole thing could have been even more hammed up since the premise was so absurd. I liked the use of jam for blood, but I've got to admit I was expecting the toaster to pop up again after the shooting, after all, why should bullets kill a possessed toaster?
Rift
Some good cinematography, some nice sets and a nice high level concept, but perhaps a bit too ambitious overall. The scripting didn't fully lay out the best flow for the plot, there were too many abrupt dialogue moments. This wasn't helped by the casting/acting. Not that the cast couldn't act, but not to the level of performance and conviction needed to really sell these roles in this sort of dramatic storyline.
A Dame A Dozen
Big bold and brassy, no idea how you rammed so much into 48 hours of filming. Funny stuff, nice noir detective story with a touch of crazy metal fantasy zombie musical!! Lots of laughs, visually exciting, crazy plot, nice work all round.
