Cop Out

Such a great call back to something we all remember so vividly. Really funny and excellent editing throughout. Great to see something a bit different and unique in the city finals. The Captain Cook part was fucking hilarious. Can't wait to to watch it again!

Going Solo

Really tight in every way. Great performances from the actor, slick script, good laughs. Well finished. Goes to show that simplicity, when done well, could clean up the Christchurch final.

Crimson Snow

Lets be honest, this is the most beautiful film to watch. The cinematography is just stunning.
I was loving everything about it until... the dummy over the cliff. Prior to that, it was epic and gorgeous and that moment cheapened the film and played for laughs rather than adding to the scope of the film.
It felt unfinished as the girl was never found (we assume with the antagonist out of the way our hero was able to go on and do so) but overall, definitely deserved city finalist.

Ghoul's Night In

Love this film! Hats off to the lead actress who killed it. She has a great future in acting! The song was great too - just all round well done and I think the audience at the city final will love it. Well deserved

Instutution

To be perfectly honest, I was surprised this one made the city final, but glad for the team (and maybe I just need a second watch!) On first watch, I thought the story was a bit thin and the ending didn't really land. HOWEVER- it was really well filmed and put together, and the acting was believable and well done.
I have seen films I personally liked better from Everything Sticks that I thought should definitely be in the final and weren't, so I didn't expect this one to make it. This team is a stalwart of the Christchurch competition and that should be admired. I'm flip flopping all over the place here, goes to show how subjective this comp is, and congratulations on being a finalist :)

And Good in Everything

Wholesome has been used in the reviews already, and that really sums it up. Sweet, heartfelt, a snapshot of where these men are at at this time. The performances were really solid, its filmed well, though I thought the dialogue in the middle became laboured and could've been cut down a bit. I had it on the bubble for the city final, and on reflection I am really looking forward to seeing it again on the big screen!
