Blood Surrogate
easily one of the v48 best short films i seen in a while and i will be very surprised if it doesn't go far. the one room/one actor zombie-survivor concept isn't anything new but is pulled off well and has an interesting twist that is definitely rare to come by. the gore effects are dazzling and got the intended audience reactions along with a scene that has to be one of the most disturbing in the competition.
Am I Questing
a shame this film got disqualified as it was definitely one of the most fun ones in the heat. the story was simple, yet entertaining and the characterization was excellent. the sidekick to Bobby Young was really funny to watch and the gags stuck well, even if they were cheesy and just playing for laughs at times, but it met the mark and laughs are what they got.

how this film came out on top of heat 23 I don't know. script wise it was well done but nothing overly inventive for the crime genre. the main faults being technical laziness and substandard acting. Very few of the shots cut together and the audio was near impossible to pick up at points. not a terrible film but definitely nothing worth looking out for.
