The adventures of captain awesome and party pengiun
Quite a nice idea, but the lead seemed to actually be drunk, just not playing drunk. I did like the ending a lot as it just ended without a big resolution. Innovative.

Only a few technical issues set this film back, which was the best 'Serious short' of it's heat by a country mile. A slightly confusing homo-erotic beach wrestling scene sets the wierd tone for this piece that was otherwise set in one room only. The dialogue, which mostly seemed casual yet unnerving was excellent. The actors, or at least two out of the three leads, pulled it off. Well done and I would like to see it again.

This was a nice entry into the 'serious' side of the V48hrs. Unlike most, it worked and entertained.
I Am You Are
Although seemingly filmed in two countries and well-produced, everything just came across as uninteresting and confusing. The audience felt a little bored by all the "seriousness." The freeze-frame ending provided nothing (but laughs?); it just had to be there. At least it looked very stylised and it was a genuine attempt.
A very metamusical
I like any of the musical genre that actually entertain and this one does. But it was all a little self-indulgent in that it's a "We're making a short film short film." Next time a real story would have been better and more memorable.

Hard Wire
It's hard to attend a V48hrs heat and be asked to vote for your favourite short when you realise that at the end of the screening that the best one is a late entry. Sucks for CJP. Easily the best and intentionally funniest of the heat, 'Hard Wire' was fantasically original. An incredible voice-over intro followed by seemingly non-stop action made this enjoyable and funny. The female lead gave an emotionally charged performance showing the film had real chops. The rest of the film is off the wire; the bad-guy even plays his cello during a fight-scene. Hopefully next years entry from these guys will be on time.
The Cruelest Cut
A good film that lacked the comedy that the makers so felt it provided. The film looked good and the acting was fine, but just not enough to remove the 'Australian Castle-eqse' tone that never took-off. It became a little boring and was rather flat.
