Loved the concept in this movie. Good build up with the suspense. The movie was well acted with the actors being believable and consistent throughout. In all a good overall movie with good camera sound and editing. Shame it was disqualified. Better luck next year.
I felt your pain looking at the voting form seeing that you had been Dq'd. Your movie was a real gem. Good cleaver script. See you guys next year

Loved the professionalism of your production. Great story, Very cool concept. A shame you were D'qd. The only thing i felt let you down was the main lady's acting. See you guys next year :)

Great film, lived up to expectations after watching your film from last year. Real shame about the DQ, hope to see you next year
The beginning of this film was amazing. I loved how the two scenes intertwined with each other, and it really gave a driving, intense feel. The rest of the film was not as much up to par, however it was still very entertaining and funny. Now I just need to know what the hell was in the box!

A man is hired to steal a mysterious box from a priest. But all is not as it seems. This film was awesome. It drew you in from the beginning and never let up. Also, it left you wanting more, which is something these guys are really good at. The importance of the box was built up perfectly so that the audience cared about what was going on around it. And it had great acting, story, cinematography & soundtrack. Not much bad to say about it really. I thought that some of the comedy was misplaced and pulled me away from the intensity of what was happening. And maybe there was a gunshot sound effect missing. But amazing film, shame it was DQ'd.
I love this team.

Thought this was an epic film, overall great acting and camera work with one acting exception/didn't like the editing of the shooting. Good concept - really gutted you got DQ'd, lots of talent! Look forward to next years one!

Best DQ'd film of the three heats I saw on thursday, should make best DQ'd film finals shortlist at least!

*Viewed in the Screening Room Alex hires/convinces Kerry to take The Box from Bobby Young, an ex-tough guy, now Samoan minister. Kerry is successful, but a series of double-crosses and a confrontation with a pregnant Sydney, leave ownership of The Box up for grabs. It's pretty difficult to be critical of films by the Goodfellas as their production values are well above average. They're always pretty well acted and they seem to produce engaging, imaginative stories. "The Box", ticks most of what you would expect, even if some of the events feel somewhat contrived, eg if The Box is so important, why was it so readily left unsecured? Was it to be rid of the burden? If so, why go to the effort of the warning? There was also always a feeling of inevitability about the contents of the box. Interesting to see the use of characters and lines from 48HOURS past, which sort of added to the patches of humour that popped up in some of the serious moments. Make no mistake though, these guys are seriously good so the DQ must have other teams (Auckland & country-wide) fist-pumping in secret!
Watched this in the screening room. Very very cool. I love the way this team manages to build tension in their short films, something which I find is very hard to do in 7mins max. The tension holds even during the references to the random elements from previous years - which was great! Not only are they talented filmmakers but they are talented actors too. A shame that they were DQ'd, but I hope Sir PJ watches their film this year anyway, because it absolutely deserves to be seen. RIP Macho Man
