I have been told I cannot review my film by my teammates but if I did I would've given it four stars (I was an actor). I can say however that I enjoyed myself immensely this year :D Re-edit, I'm biased, I'm giving it four stars. At least everyone knows my bias -.-

'Urban Etikit' had potential to be very well done, however the over use of slow motion shots was pretentious. Repetition can become very boring, even in just 7 minutes i felt it dragged on and became tedious. The basic storyline made it easy to understand although it took a while to establish it. The un-dramatic climax disappointed me but the team obviously put alot of effort into this film, it was quite pretty to watch but left my mind un-enthused.

great screenplay! One of the best in heat 14.

Aesthetically, it was REALLY pleasing. Didn't know Auckland CBD could be that pretty. I think if the 'romance' was established earlier in the film, the ending would have had more meaning. Otherwise BEAUTIFUL!

It was interesting to see a team integrating a more lyrical approach with a straightforward narrative. I thought the relationship between the two lead characters could have been set up more clearly at the beginning the film, and that the film could have ended on an even more ambiguous note (without the Kite-flyers reuniting, but perhaps just with them looking at up the kite in the sky), but other than that this was a solid effort, with attention paid to doing more with less (less events, more pronounced story beats, less characters). It could have functioned as a segment out of a longer film, especially because of the slower pacing, and it did feel a bit out of place in the context of more parodic and comedic films. But it definitely left me feeling something - thanks to the balanced direction which demonstrated a knack for the fast-paced (chase scenes), the reflective (all those slow motion shots / the Satie stuff), comedy (the fantastic monologue), and even a light touch of the surreal (the ambiguous ending - not sure if this was intended or just due to a lack of clarity though - but it worked for me). Yet with all this range imbedded in the narrative, it still worked out to be one of the most tonally consistent films I've seen in 48Hours, which is a testament to good directorial instincts and solid work from the actors and the editor.

As a writer and Film Grad, its all about story for me. Having said that I loved the aesthetics of this film. I loved how the scenes of the sky were shot and it made it feel like I was dreaming and could easily get lost in the virtual world the film had created. I was wrapped up with the emotion of the kites flying and the chase scenes. The antagonist male brilliant in his delivery and the lines he spoke at the bottom of the stairs was very realistic and I felt it showed what a truly great actor he is. Great photography made this film.

the story was actually quite good and cute. some people might not like how the girl is so aggressive and it's unexplained why but, i like it because the audience can relate much more towards the girl because there wasnt a specific reason, therefore the audience can imagine the reasons themselves. i also admire your use of slow motion. it was very effective to capture the moment for the audience. your cinematography was very good indeed. i'm quite jealous of your film quality. Love that guy who screamed that your movie was the best one of the heat.

A group of urban renegades are wreaking havoc on the CBD with their nuisance kite flying and a security guard is out to stop them. This film was wonderful and a definite contender for the cinematography award. The acting was of a high standard and I thought the fad was well used, they went for a nice serious film without going for the schtick routine that a lot of the fads did. The end of the film was a nice close to a lovely story. A very high standard was set with this film, awesome effort. And who knows, maybe kite flying will take off ;)
