This short played like a public service announcement about drugs, reminiscent of Death in The West's syphillis announcement. The story of Bobbie Young's death by overdose was told via a series of interviews, in which this one-person team played multiple characters, which would have worked better with a changed voice and locations for the different interview subjects. I feel the connection to the fad genre is tenuous at best, with the text at the end really doing all the work. This was not well-made technically, shot in 4:3 with some weird editing between subjects, and iffy sound. Moments in this were cringe-worthy, but the audience reaction was generally positive.

I thought this film was pretty good for a one person effort. It did have a lot of long lasting shots though which made it had to keep my attention. The one actor playing all the parts created a comedic effect which I'm not sure is what she was going for so as suggested earlier different locations etc may have helped with this. Nice effort for a solo act!

Starts as a special news report on the sad case of Bobbie Young. We get interviews with Bobbie's army captain, mother, sister, friend and possibly others which eventually leads to a public service announcement on the danger of leading a life such as Bobbie's. The architect of this film, Sonia George did absolutely everything, including playing all the parts. There was a truck load of dialogue so well done on that! Unfortunately there wasn't a lot of variety either in the characters or in the shot selection. "One-shot madness" is what I wrote down! Get online and get some tips about basic shot-composition and this will help you a lot in the future. There were audio issues and the 4:3 thing and a really long freeze frame! I loved the dead-pan line when the wire was picked up - "I hate it when people leave rubbish around". Be sure to enter next year!

Wow! I was impressed! She did it all alone and certainly didn't get the easiest genre! An amazing result considering the technical hiccups she endured. She managed to run this in 6 hours! It is funny and creative. Well done!

Not a bad effort from a one man army. Great idea for story - wrapped up nicely. Some things to work on would be audio and visual techniques. Keep at it!

The audience were laughing so hard at parts which were only funny as they were just that terrible...I thought the girl was going to run out crying. Though, you have to admit, it was very comical in parts- which actually made it a pretty good film....Could do with a little acting touch up, but...solid effort. Nice to see her give it a try.

Whilst an excellent first time, one person effort it ended up being a touch overly ambitious. The different characters needed to be differentiated more, especially in speech. An impressive amount of dialogue, but too much I think. It was difficult to process it all as coming from different people, with the delivery method so similar. It really needed more variety of camera shots to hold audience interest. You could really tell which parts were done later though as the creator seemed to learn alot over the course of the shoot. Very good start! Can't wait to see what you come up with next :)

Brilliant! So great to see more young entries this year. Must say I doubt that I would have done quite as good a job at your age putting something together.. cunning use of the genre, going for the more serious side of of the 'fads' Only real critism I have is that the shots dragged and the lack in variety of scenery. Also while clearly a one-man production, the acting gave more of a comical effect than it should have? Perhaps next year, you should get together with a group of friends and give it a bash? I know you'll have a blast and will probably produce something even higher in quality than this year! Maybe even make some films throughout the year to practice Last of all don't get disheartened. You've got waay more years to get better that this than most of us did Keep it up!

This 1-woman show begins as a news broadcast with "Aquila Bertram" (excellent name!) introducing a 60 Minutes style retelling of Bobbie Young's descent into drug abuse. An army general recalls, monologue style, Bobbie's time with the service, and her best friend then testifies to her previously excellent character. We also hear from her sister, and then her mother, finishing with a freeze-frame ending on the unfortunate Bobby herself, and then some factual informative text about drug abuse statistics. A big effort to make this all by yourself. We needed a bit more variation the characters and locations though, and it would have been good to try and work the compulsory elements in a bit more smoothly (especially the prop!) Good use of Bobby Young though. Sound a bit iffy at times but there are lots of other teams with a lot more resources that had worse! All good practice for future years.
