In my top three and, in retrospect, my pick of the heat. One Room was always going to be a tough genre, but this team aced it. Very clever—and challenging—to go for extra difficulty points by setting it in the 'smallest room', and have much of the action taking place off camera. Right from the kickoff, the use of a huge variety of camera angles was a brilliant way to avoid monotony, and was very well handled. A great script, well communicated, and excellent performances from the cast. If these guys are really only just learning their craft, I'm looking forward to seeing what they produce in the future! [Added after Chester Travis's review:] I was debating whether to say something about the logic of the ending. I interpreted the wire as a brake cable, which fits with revenge, but not with the line "Won't get far without this". So, agreed: confusing either way.

Slightly confused by the above review. While I appreciated the unusual use of the one room aspect, I found the revenge payoff to be pretty weak. Maybe I missed something, but the character who "bedded" Bobbie Young in the bathroom was seemingly conjured out of nowhere. I'm guessing he was a business associate, but I didn't really feel or believe any of the relationships. Surely should you want to get rid of an ex bully from your life (and more immediately from your house), quashing their means of departure might not be the best form of revenge :D

Taking place in a bathroom, a couple get ready for the husband’s boss coming around for dinner – it seems important! We see them together and apart and hear their respective desires/fears for the dinner. Once the guests arrive (the female boss and her younger husband – I think) we also hear their thoughts and see them take the opportunity for a quickee. The wife suddenly realises that the boss bullied her in the past and so plots revenge. It ends in an argument and then a final piece of payback. Nicely shot in such a confined space with reasonable variety. I liked the overhead toilet shot! The story got a little boring however and I personally didn’t like any of the characters. The tension at the end wasn’t really there to make me care about anyone’s fate. A good effort though!

[Watched this in the screening room] So the whole film is set in a bathroom, we see the comings and goings of people, their interactions, and hear conversations outside the bathroom. Some sort of storyline involving the main guys boss being his wifes ex bully, ending up in the boss leaving after a fight. Well... This movie made me uncomfortable, very uncomfortable. Mayby it was because it was set in a bathroom (and you know its not leaving!) mayby the mirrors.. something about it. It also made me want to not get married! ha. Some good cinematography here, nice origional idea and execution. I guess I had myself wondering what was the point of that? Well if the point of the movie was to make me dread getting old and domesticated then you succeded! The sound was ok, acting was ok, just a nice produced little film that got me thinking, not bad for a v48 hours flick. Still uncomfortable though...
