Breadcrumbs

Lovely music. I'm a composer therefore I'm biased to listen out for it, but the music in this film was one of the highlights of my evening. Very telling that even though the action had finished and the credits had begun, nobody applauded until the music was over. Kudos to whoever did it, I can't remember your name from the credits sorry. There were moments in the film in which it veered into LTSA drink drive advert territory, and I felt the story wasn't really sharply enough in focus. It was well shot (nice car bonnet shot by the way), the sound was all there, but story-wise it seemed like it had more to give, it didn't fully deliver all that it could have. Still, this would have got my 2 points (I didn't vote, because I missed the first three films in the heat).

Aw it seemed like it tried to have a good moral. Nice. What was the moral? Who knows.

Really nicely shot, looked like a DSLR, but actually used to tell a story clearly for once. Looked like a young team, but their dialogue seemed well devised and pretty natural. Quite earnest and mature, it had a different flavour to all the other films. Liked how the cast all had characters, even if they minor. Ultimately didn't quite pay off, but a team to watch in future.

I know it was only acapella and for less than 5 seconds, but you still can't use BLACK EYED PEAS - I GOTTA FEELING in this competition, guys! sheesh! But with regards to the film itself, it was a serious effort that I guess made the point to live each day to the max. Our hospitalised lead really has this hit home to him when he flashbacks to previous memories before his accident, but this time does it through the bodies of his friends. Serious overuse of focus on the bedridden's eyes to try and manipulate the audience I thought, but hey that's just me. Technically decent otherwise.

I would have found a way to dispense with the long-winded and somewhat wanky voice-over. As another reviewer has stated, it caused the watcher to think there was a 'moral' of some sort, which wasn't actually forthcoming. Having said that, this was a pretty good film, with consistent acting throughout. I liked the interpretation of the 'body switch' genre - think this team did very well with it. I kind of wanted to see the POV change to that of each character in turn as George started to see the day from their perspective. I really liked the device of focusing on each of the objects that prompted a memory of each part of the day. That was very well done. The moment between George and the girl at the end was very genuine - beautifully awkward and a bit stilted, just like real life.

Boy relives the last day before he is horribly injured/paralysed. I thought it was a great attempt at a serious script and there were some lovely poignant moments. I thought the acting was great and it looked good. I felt the body-switching didn't quite work - I got a little confused because he was still there in the group, and there was maybe a touch too much of him in the present. Someone else has mentioned the awesome music and I also wanted to agree - the music was beautiful. Nice work from what looked like a really young team.

This was not a bodyswitch movie, there was no bodyswitching at all, just a remorseful guy thinking about how much of a dick he has been. The film felt like it was made by people who read more poetry than watch films because they didnt seem to know what a freeze frame ending was either. Like a lot of others, I felt this was becoming a drink driving ad, and I really hoped it was going to turn into one so there could be a point.

Like others, I felt this was turning into a drink driving awareness ad. I feel it would have been better if it had gone that way because then there could have been a point. 'Breadcrumbs' is not a bodyswitch movie, so not coming close to the genre and not having any real point beyond 'try not to be a dick' really made this a difficult watch.

I got in a minor argument with team mates about this one. I thought it was a body switch movie but can understand how some don't see it as such. I guess I just think a fair bit of latitude should be given for these micro-genres. Anyway enjoyed the filming, dialogue and the score was cool- was that original? If so it suited perfectly. Great stuff guys. How old are you? If you're as young as you looked you've got an awesome future in this comp. Technically I thought you had good shot selection and the pacing of the script was a real strength.

Pretentious is a word that comes to mind. While beautifully shot it completely missed the mark of the Body Switch genre and was nothing but a string of 'deep' sentences written by someone who considers themselves the new age Shakespeare. "The breadcrumbs are gone now, they were eaten by birds." Seriously?

didn't get it until it was explained to me. a clever concept but really didn't pull it off imo

I think the film was lacking in a solid storyline but was shot and acted well. The music was nice, suited the natural dialogue and tone of the film and worked well to draw you in.. I don't believe that it was new age shakespeare, it was probably just an attempt to make the moral ring home even if they did miss the boat a little bit. All up I think there was a lot of talent but maybe it was over played slightly. As others have said, looks like a group to watch for in future competitions and I agree.

A hindsight view of a night out for a now severely injured teenager. Viewed from various perspectives as the evening develops. Some impressive bits of dialogue, some smooth shots and solid acting (lead actor and sincere seeming girlfriend). Great for 48 hours work. Thought that the body-switch device could have been more clearly used (perhaps more POV shots?) and that the final dramatic act could have had greater repercussions beyond the main character. Unusual Whitby hitchhiker.

This was my favourite film in the heat! Up till this film there was 1 maybe 2 really good ones in this heat. The editing was amazing and the characters was so "human". I don't know how people didn't get it, i just loved it.

Seriously do people have to be hit in the head with a hammer? Sour grapes I'd say. I think this is a clever take on the body switch - I mean his body would feel quite foreign to him, don't the other reviewers value originality and twisting it a bit or would they prefer everybody made the same movie. I actually think this was the best I've seen. Great acting, well shot, beautiful score and a story that grew the characters and intrigue. This was a mature enough to stand on its own without relying on cheap tricks and gags.

Well done. I'm not sure why other reviewers are hung up on missing the moral, it came across to me as mildly existential (ok, pretentious). Maybe the required elements weren't too strong but shit, in 48hours to twist the genre a bit and not have to include any gimmicks or unnatural lines, pace it well, with no technical errors and still manage to get a point across, 9/10. Actors played convincing pricks too.
