I didn't think the story flowed very well, and the end was confusing.

I didn't think that the story flowed very well. More should have been made of the historical aspect. I wasn't sure what part the step-mother played in the story and why the girl ended up with a moku?

I liked it. Didn't seem too cheesy. But the sound was a bit up and down.
I was looking forward to Team Spielberg... They are always ambitious... And the story was clear (girl took a leaf from a church... A curse starts to come true... She puts the leaf back... The mum chases her down (I liked the sickle)... But it just wasn't quite there for me. Good acting by the dad and little girl. Sound might have been an issue (cant recall... actually sound was an issue for most in this heat). Slick production as always... love your lighting - shows you make an effort.
All the shots, sound, other technical aspects (even colour) were real good. Not 100% sold on the story, what was that crazy stepmum up to? Did she get hit by a train? Was that church the one in Waikumete Cemetery? I really enjoyed the part where the guy was wearing a tiny hat in the church.
The acting in this film was very good. The curse of the ancients’ thing is a little overdone these days, but I do prefer thriller-horror to horror-horror. Not sure whether the stepmum died when she got hit by the train, although I guess none of it really happened in the end so it’s irrelevant? Possibly too much drama and story to pack into 7 minutes.

Film quality was good. Dad looked like an experienced actor, although would have seemed more authentic if one or both had looked more Maori (or polynesian). Liked quite a lot of it but it seemed a bit disjointed in parts so didn't quite get all of it. Really loud in one part in the middle which was a bit distracting to the story. The intro was amusing!

I agree with the other reviewers! You should have used editing technology (or paint) to make this man appear more ethnic! This is obvious! I personally expected more from you as a long time fan of "The Team Spielberg". The stepmother reminded me of a woman I knew. (She did not get hit by a train). I thought the leaf was one of the best looking ones in the heat.
This one was just plain weird. The story seemed all over the place, and the whole thing felt a bit disjointed. The score was great, although the levels could have been played with a bit. The acting was quite resonable, but some lines just came across as forced.
I usually like films that challenge me spiritually but didn't work for me here. The acting was average. Poor child having to deal with such poorly written script with horrible themes. The girl as the mother seemed fake and didn't have that maternal thing about her, I was confused if she was a baby sitter or an adopted older sister. The man was ok he would of been better if the plot is simplified so we could really connect with the characters better. Cinematography was OK, setting good. Poor plot concept, there were too much. It was so bad no offence, almost unbearable. I felt you wanted to achieve a high budget film within 7 mins. You were trying too hard I'm sorry. Sometimes less is more I was told. Too ambitious for a Spielberg film. I think you had some descent actors and it had potential. Don't call yourself Spielberg next time you hear?
