Definitely my favourite film from heat 3. A horror film featuring two men, struggling to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. Complications arise, with decisions on morality vs. practicality risking the pair's safety. I loved how simple and subtle this film was; the team didn't spell anything out literally to the audience, instead they showed. This gave the film's setting a sense of depth, history and scale to the mostly interior-based film. Some great acting and realistic dialogue too. Score was essentially non-existant, a fact which I loved, and only ever kicked in to support the amazing visuals in the most vital scenes. This film's audio and cinematography were, in my opinion, flawless. I also loved the subtle moral issue that was raised, thought it gave a nice extra layer of depth to the film. Can't fault this one, I'd bet my money on this appearing in the regional finals.

I saw this in the heats. Wow. This has definite City finalist written all over it. Beautiful cinematic shots, used subtly, which allowed the story to breathe and develop. The characters were played by very strong actors (I loved your film from last year too) and the twist at the end was a good one. A very tight film, beautiful light in your shots, The opening dialog about the catfood captured me and best shower scene of the night!

I really liked this film, it was my favourite of the night, it was well shot and had a great twist at the end. It was a good inclusion of the prop too. The characters were acted out really well, and were quite relatable. Great job!

We hear via a radio broadcast that a state of emergency has been declared due to the effects of some super virus. We are introduced to our two male leads who are quarantined inside the safety of a secure looking building. When noises from outside arouse their curiosity they discover a dead body with a small dog attached which any contact with presents the danger of the men becoming infected. "The Eh Team" were runners-up in CHCH last year and have certainly delivered another polished effort here that technically is hard to fault - plenty of inventive camerawork, nice colour grade, clear audio and tight editing. However, for me, this is such a tired overdone storyline and was a contemporary societal fear some years ago now. As a result, any horror we may feel doesn't play out and the film tries to be a combination of humour (shower scene; eating from cans) and serious (the dark, lonely search during the back-half of the film. As such, neither worked and the ending was as predictable as it gets. The actors are well accomplished but weren't helped by some pretty dull and lengthy dialogue. It was all a bit "meh". Despite my feelings, the production side of this will probably see it through to the finals as it certainly ticks those boxes.

A well shot film. Day 6 has a great feel to the whole film, some great work creating a dull and grey world of a fictional world where the outside world is considered to be an infectious place. Probably the best use of the leaf prop so far. And the moment of realisation is a great plot moment for the film. Lets just hope in a apocalyptic world, we dont have to eat dog food!

I agree with MistaTeas review. Refer to that.
