A good genre subversive effort on show here, well edited and having its own unique sense of style with the only dialogue of the film coming from radio talkback commentary. A young group of friends look after the estate of Nicky Brick over the weekend in the country and entertain much revelry with dancing, drinking and guns. It encapsulates a sense of freedom from the outside world with efforts made to stop people from using their mobile phones as well. However the explicit aftermath of the partying of the good looking young cast builds in the creepiness scales with solid sound design throughout.
This film was quite slick, but left a little to be desired as it felt like it ended prematurely, or like it was a set up to a film rather than one in its own right. Set over one night at a party this team successfully managed to create the party atmosphere while not needing a roomfull of people (an admirable feat in itself). An unusual morning after to the party gave the film what would usually be the "obstacle" in the story but then it just... ended. Still, what was there was well done.
I was very impressed with the way this film was produced, the acting, cinematography and editing were very well put together in a way that immediately got me involved in the film and kept my interest through out. However the over all story to me seemed more like an outline or 1st draft of a story than a fully completed and realized story as it seemed to end too abruptly. Further development on the script would have been appreciated however it was still a pleasure to watch something as well put together as this film was.
