the end

This was a very polished film and quite well shot too, a writer sits at a bar trying to work out how to finish his reunion film while the events of the story play out in the background. I'm trying to remember why I didn't pick it as one of my favourites for the night, maybe I just thought it was a little bit too corn ball and could have done with just a simple credit sequence, I know, it's fun to do stuff like that but the film just didn't need it.

This was a great idea for a reunion movie. Vic, a writer is telling the barmaid about the script he is writing for a reunion movie and while he does that a parallel story is unfolding in the same bar at an actual reunion. Nice work

Whilst I've seen the premise of a man at a bar, narrating a story that's actually happening around him (same time narration) I've never seen it done this well. The film looked really well polished... The lighting in the 'Red Bar' was awesome and the great camera and sound made this an easy watch. Smart casting on the old actor playing the Teacher (Mr Mackay?) and great use of him dancing as the backdrop for the Credits. It was a little difficult following who was who (regarding the current and ex girls at the reunion) but not having the time to portray characters is typical downside of a -7min film so not really an issue - I could still comprehend all that was happening with regard to the 'Reunion' and was pleasantly surprised when the guy got the girl at the end. I rate Team Tryhards up with Team Spielberg as 'teams to watch' in heat 19 (no offence the other great teams I didn't mention).

This film was smartly made with a complicated enough plot line and some funny characters, particularly the old professor. Good job.

This was one of my favourites in the heat. It used a clever technique of narrator being punter seeking advice from barmaid about his latest screenplay meanwhile a real-time portrayal of these events were being played out behind him. The acting was great all round and the editing was slick. Some characters could have been more clearly defined as got a little bit lost at times as to their story but overall a great effort! Loved the old guy dancing at the end too!

Great reunion movie idea. I believe this film stood out as the most unique thought out films of the heats i have seen so far. The leading actors were believable and very clever and the film was shot beautifully. Well done team see you in the finals.

I liked this movie. Its slightly cheesy writing helps to take us into the genre. The editing helps to bring the story line together, show off the camera work and soundtrack/sound-mix. And the acting/casting was good. I like the final title sequence with Mr. Macky dancing. Nicely done.

Great story was entertaining from start to finish really nice combination of storytelling and acting hopefully get to see this on back on the big screen!.....Oh and Mr Mackie absolutely HILARIOUS Damn Drunk LOL ;)

Definitely my favourite of the heat! A really polished and well produced film! loved the way the story-lines converged, this can be really tricky, but clever camera work and editing really brought the whole thing together. Slick execution of a corny genre, well done.

Loved the humour and the construction - the edit built the drama all the way into the credits

Definitely the best produced film in this heat. Mr Mackey was my fav. He needed some more lines. Overall very slick.

Another of the top films of this heat. Great acting and the shots were well framed to get the most out of the scene. Got a little too far ahead of itself in expecting us to side with the lead or care what was going on. The end, while good, and suited the film, had no emotional impact at all because it was not set up better in the first 4 minutes. I've seen 7 minutes films pull an emotional punch before but this one probably focused on too many of its great ensemble cast to really work as well it it should have. More of a longing and loneliness from the lead as he was talking to the bar maid might have made the ending have more of an emotional pay off rather than come across as a gimmick.

Every year there's a good percentage of teams that make their 48 hour films about making a film, its a legitimate idea but no matter how well it's done it just doesn't seem original to me. That being said - this was really, really well done haha. I enjoyed it and like everyone else said it had great cinematography, cutting and everything. Very polished. It was a not very original idea made superbly in every aspect. I would keep on eye on this team because if they come up with a really good premise for a film, they'll destroy us all.
