One of the better films of the night. This film really embraced the character of Vic Meyer the insomniac and for the most part was very well shot, I really enjoyed the closeups showing his shifts in perception. Unfortunately for me the film just didn't sit right, the acting was inconsistent especially by the lead who in some parts was fantastic but in others seemed disinterested. A big let down, (and I feel bad for them about it) was the scene with the police. The police uniforms got a big laugh from the audience (not intentionally funny either). They were so bad that they really took you out of the story and made the final scene a lot less dramatic. A very competent film but with just a few issues that let it down.

What a nice film! The acting totally made this film - mad kudos to your actors. I thought that the story line was pretty clever, and the dialogue was well written. Might have done with a little more music and foley at times.

One of the best for the night. Good storyline, well shot. The policemen were tad funny as like Top Gear meets Police Ten-7, but funny none the less, the effects were well played for the insomniac character, music was played gracefully to give the film a moving sensation. Well enjoyable

My favorite of the night, Cinematography and Character wise. Incredibly subtle slide in on a shot that made me do a double take and at the end with him and his wife. The use of his co-worker elaborating on a past to add dimension to the character was great and also his habitual putting of the police scanner on the dash board. Even though the police men were a bit comical, the ending scene where he is kind of in a trance and the they have him surrounded I literally cover my mouth in suspense.

Probably my pick of the night. This film had really excellent sound design which definitely set it apart from many of the other films so far. All of the dialogue was clear, and there was great use of sound-effects and minimalistic but successful scoring. Editing was also very tight, and gave the film urgency where it needed it. The police uniforms were a little jarring, and took a little bit of the impact away from the finale, and the anonymous antagonist on the radio had a bit of a cheesy, 'villain voice', which was a pity as the dialogue was generally well written. The story was extremely successful, and I think you delivered a very charged drama with a lot of emotional punch. Excellent engagement from audience with the film. Genre was definitely backgrounded - debatable how successful this was in the 48hours setting. But in any case, a very good short.

Nicely conceived, if not entirely well mapped out to the audience, this is stylish and competent filmmaking, its just a pity the story is weak, (along with the laughable cop costumes.) Peter Holmes is no stranger to the 48, he's mighty on and off screen. A careful character actor (remember him from 'Coffee' a few years back? Great stuff) well he's not lost any of his stuff. But, he deserves more robust material to work with. The wheels stayed on until the cops showed up, (laughter from the audience undermined what was a serious situation, but the costuming deserved it.) The story could've received a second/third draft, and slightly stronger ending. Although well received by the audience, (despite its few flaws) this should be top 12.

One of the better films of the night that contained some great acting. The close up shots, blurring and shaking of the camera were very effective but the soundtrack could have been better. Overall still a good short film that should be in contention for regional finalists.

I thought this film was great. Very well shot and edited and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Well done to you.
