I'm A Horse

Holy hell this was by far the most flat-out entertaining film of the first night of heats in Wellington. A guy who can’t sleep of course takes a pill only to be awoken by a man with a horse’s head. Well, now we can’t have our sleep being interrupted can we? A violent revelatory mindfuck with a damn catchy little ditty tidying it all together. Nailed the genre and POV shot with aplomb too.

Horse heads, blood and an annoying song what more could one want in a short. A Fast short that's straight to the point and delivered it like a kick to the nuts.

Cannot get that f&$kn song out of my head Toats amazeballs movie , started of slow followed by a roller coaster of craziness

At first it seems like its just pure madness until the story slowly reveals itself. Very clever and a really good take on a fairly tough genre for a short film.

I was at heat three and this film was by far the best, most funny and creative movie. The stabbing scene was accompanied by the audience clapping during the film and when it was all over many people were still singing the soon to be famous "I'm a horse" song. The general story line was snappy and had mystery which left you wanting to know more but as it went on it all pulled together at the end in a crafty way. I truly do hope this film sees the finals, this team is back every year and always has a great sense of humor and skill with every movie they make. Way to represent the true meaning of the 48 hour film competition. Keep it up guys, see you at the finals.

This took me a while to realise where it was going. It bordered on nonsense. I felt there was little explanation of what happened. And I enjoyed the hell out of it. Nice work Balls McGee. I hope this is the last 48 Hours film anyone ever makes with a horse mask, because ya'll nailed it. Fun, surprising and maybe my favourite POV shot of the competition.

Absolutely loved this film, from the small intro "Who even watches this crap?" to the seemingly slow start which turned into a mashup crammed with completely unexpected action, This film has it all. Still catch myself singing the song at the most random of moments.

If It wasn't for the fact that this short was funny and entertaining, the repetition of the annoying, yet catchy little tune would make you remember it!

Very funny and fast paced. Never a dull moment in this chaotic all over the place film. It keeps you guessing as to where the storyline will take you all the way through, ending in an interesting twist.

Although the converging storyline was amusing and unexpected, I'm surprised by how many rave reviews 'I'm A Horse' is getting. I guess people liked the fact that Balls McGee kept it simple and repetitive (allowing for a quick and satisfying payoff for the viewer), yet I felt that it lacked substance and was a little too gimmicky. The horse mask and the catchy song did most of the work which meant there was little need for a good script (or any script at all for that matter) or good acting to prop it up. Does that really amount to quality film-making?

I'm not sure whether this was a converging story line or not. We saw the same story twice, once from Vic perspective and then from the Horse's, and in the end Vic busts into a studio and shoots the horse and singer (thank goodness!). Maybe it's one of those situations where it's so bad that it's good. Yes, I can see that people would love it for it's craziness and that darn repetitive song that I can still remember clearly (damn it all!) a week after the final. It just didn't blow me away though.

A man's sleep is interrupted by a horse singing a never ending song. This film was an excellent take on its genere, the direction was nicely subtle and deliberate. However is came off a little slow paced, and the song didn't really do it for me personally.
