Job Security

Hugely enjoyable, great acting from the leads and terriffic production values. Expecting to see this one in the finals

A 10 year human security veteran tells his newly recruited robot replacement that he is going to teach him the ropes today. By that I mean he is going to use the day as a means for some excellent comedic quips and observations. Both actors were really solid here as they built a rapport in front of our eyes. A couple of nice special effects touches as well re: the robot.

Funny movie, with some very cleaver special effects with the robot, great actors really made this movie.

A foul mouthed security guard has to train his robot replacement in this very funny film. Good chemistry between the two leads and a couple of nice little effects too. Shot really well. Looked great.

I was here watching the Heat 3 in Wellington as I always try to get in and see a few heats now i dont enter anymore. Good film but I do agree with Otis, the swearing could have been toned down a little and the snap change of the robot almost seems a hard ask, maybe if the story as he changed was a little more detailed. Actors worked well together.

My second favourite thing about Job Security is how watchable it is. It felt as smooth as a well-produced TV show (unless I'm mistaken due to the contrast of more jarring 48 Hours entries). Certainly one of those 48 Hours films that could stand on it's own right, outside of the competition. The best thing about this short was the characters. Funny, relatable and believable. Tackling the robot/AI genre without the common cliche of fear. Make sure you watch this one.

'Job Security' outshone all other films in this heat by a mile. It was cleverly executed and had great dynamic between the two main characters. The little tricks, such as the robot adjusting his ears and removing his facial hair, were hilarious. The authenticity of the set and costumes also helped this short film rise above the rest.

Well set, great looking film, and I would expect that from a team apparently using a RED EPIC camera! the only part I feel let it down was the swearing, it seemed to be just used to get a laugh.

Entertaining little film with some good effects (ears and shave). But far too much unnecessary swearing IMO.

This was a fun, quiet little spin on humans being replaced by robots. It's nice to see a 48Hours film that is loosely, but well, structured as a lot of films either move too quickly or too slowly. The script had quite a few good jokes in it, and the acting was superb all round, giving it a naturalistic feeling. The little touches of robotic stuff were very well-handled, and the sound was terrific the whole way through. I thought that some of the profanity was a bit unnecessary however, as there are other ways to show someone is disenfranchised than swearing constantly, and that the framing could have been a bit tighter (or at least a little more varied). The same setups repeat a little too much for my taste, and it would have been nice to have some more options.

WTF?... that was cool. Liked the special effects... look simple but I bet they were pretty difficult... Well filmed, well edited, nicely acted... didn't blow my mind away but a nice bit of fun. :)

I liked the banter between the robot and human, it was best when it was in a mocking manner but like others I thought you could have halved the amount of bad language. The reaction of the robot at the end didn't make a lot of sense for that character. Loved the ear movement and self-shave feature. Really tiny thing: the sound seemed a bit inconsistent between robot and human at times - the robot's lines were cleaner in terms of less background hiss. I would have been impressed if the security outfits were made up and for a fictitious company, but they obviously weren't. I'm not saying there was anything wrong using Recon's outfits, but you would have got another star out of me for original costumes.
