This film was so fun an endearing I was delighted every minute. so visually appealing and great characters - top stuff & sure to be a top contender!
It's perhaps unfair to compare 'Pants on Fire' with Lense Flare's first musical 'Lease'. While the technical aspects of this film are exponentially improved over their 2007 entry, 'Pants on Fire' does not quite have the same enthusiastic heartbeat as 'Lease' still possesses. Having said that, kudos to the team who in my eyes have now produced the 1st and 2nd best musical this competition has ever seen. Lense Flare has a reputation for it's ensemble of talented actors but this year the cast is greatly reduced. This has allowed them room to make a deep study of the Morgan character, brilliantly portrayed by Britta ...something something... (last name?) and is the driving force behind this cute/cuddly/grim tale about the lies we maintain to keep love aflame (geddit). The male performances bring a tinge of David Brent-type delivery to the dialogue which seems a little unnecessary. You cannot deny the team's natural flare and enjoyment of this competition though, its shines through their performances. The film is a technical spectacle. For me, Lense Flare is one of those teams that constantly redefines the possibilities of this competition and this year is no different, the slow-mo house fire scene raises the bar yet again. The music is sublime, somebody give these guys money to release all their music on a Lense Flare OST. I did have issues with Morgan's contemplative song in the firestation - I struggled to understand what she was actually saying and I can't tell if it was a recording or a writing issue..? Anyway. Another year, another contender for top honours. It's just not the same with out them.
Probably the biggest crowd pleaser of the night. Technically stunning (the fire sequence caused a few gasps around me). Songs were amazing! Vocals in particular were faultless. Should and will be a contender for the top prize.

They had a house on fire - where do you go from there? I enjoyed the musical (and of course the excellent beard) and thought the lead actress had a stunning voice. It didn't catch me as much as Lease, but you can't compare them. Plus they had a house on fire!
