Ringtone Revenge

Lead actor playing a Rhys Darby type. Beautifully shot, the round the world piano sequence was incredible. Great set locations. Quirky story which was both interesting and easy to follow. Only thing that could be a let-down was the sound which wasn't perfect. Nice job! *WARNING: Plagiarism in action in reviews below.*

This was fun, both main actor and villian(ish) antagonist character were well acted (that laugh tho...), and visually the hero/anti hero's revenge RE: ringtone piracy were beautiful and well shot (see: sweeping / rotating shot thing around main character playing piano, and slow motion shot at climax of the film, the liar in general) Sound very hit an miss, probably at its most even when everyone was shouting reveng-ish stuff.

Good start, good acting. Visually, this film was amazing a lot of the time. Everything inside the house looked great: the walls, the circling piano shot, the preparing for revenge montage... There were some great shots. The sound was bad at times. And ending didn't really do it for me.

Nicely shot for most part, great acting, I like the use of the line of dialogue too. I quite like the story, but I feel the ending doesn't really do it for me. The biggest let down was the sound. I wished these guys have more time to polish the sound, and it would have been stunning.

Loved this film, fantastic acting by the lead and supporting characters. Story arc was succinct while containing everything expected from a revenge movie, loved the ending as well! Only problem was the sound which took away from the overall polished feel of the movie, other than that, very good work.

Good acting. Some very nice shots. Some very dodgy sound, some of the time. Pretty good story. This team is on the verge of being pretty slick. Didn't quite nail any aspect, but overall this was probably the best film of the heat.

A very polished film. The cinematography and soundtrack were incredible. The shots of the revenge scene and music alongside it were brilliant. Not sure about the wheeze? The audience seemed to enjoy it though, well done.

Made me laugh, I was fully engaged, and it looked amazing! Again, that sound was unfortunate.. but at least the music/score was very good

Best film of the heat, great acting, the score/music was fantastic, and some nice shots throughout. Sound was a bit of a let down, but the story was entertaining and more than made up for it. How did you do the panning around the piano? Hallway shot was also a highlight. Well done. Hope to see this in the final.

Solid Cinematography and strong acting was accompanied by a well fitted score. The story was simple but really effective and I look forward to seeing more from these guys!

Absolutely loved this film! The main character was a hilarious Rhys Darby type and the cinematography was at a very high standard. The music/score was also fantastic and brought real depth to the story. By far the best film in the heat.

Ringtone artist Erroll takes revenge against his lying boss. This is a very impressive looking film, with strong performances driving a quirky, engaging story. The descent into madness sequence is brilliant and makes great use of a very cool location. I did feel that the actual revenge was a bit of a letdown, although I guess it was the best the character could be expected to do. The film wraps up a bit too quickly for my liking too. Quirky, enjoyable and polished. Well done!

A betrayed ringtone artist takes matters into his own hands. Up top let me say that this film does one thing well that is vary rare in 48 Hours: non stilted two-shot dialogue. Combined with some great shots, nice sets, and classic kiwi self awareness and I found this to be a really solid short. The lead actor did a magnificent job, portraying weirdness without being alienating. This film was also beautifully shot. However I got the impression they may have got a bit carried away for a few shots, yes they were cool (piano in particular) but didn't really fit with the rest of the style. This is being slightly picky though as the film was better shot that 95% of 48 Hour shorts.

This is one of those films that really illustrates just how tough the competition is in the 48 hours these days, I can't really think of many ways to fault the film apart from maybe it could be a bit more punchy and the ending is a little anti climactic... I feel like I've written this review last year for a different film. Yeah, it's really well shot, the audio is acceptable and the performances work for the film which is based on a solid idea.
