Those Down Days is a film by Amber Beaton. It tells the story of Katie, a teenage goth who is learning to navigate suburban life with her normie parents.
Originally made as part of the 48hour film fest (a film competition where all films must be written, produced, shot and edited all within 48 hours) Those Down Days was also filmed during New Zealand's strictest lockdown level 4 amid the Covid19 Pandemic. Unable to leave the property or hire a crew, contestants were asked to film with only the people and resources available within their "bubble". Due to these restriction, Those Down Days was written, shot, starring and edited by Amber Beaton who plays the characters of Brother, Dad and of course Katie.
Lisa Linx Wolf, Amber's partner also stared in the film as Mum, Nan-Nan and Lady Edwina as well as taking care of location scouting (within the house) and all props and set design.
