Last Night

by Thrill Me

Sarah wakes up the morning after the night before, with no idea what happened, where she is, or how she got there.

A great opening shot that was suitably disorientating. The acting was convincing especially from Michaela Sheehan who easily combined confused/concerned and upset. The general lack of reaction to her dress being covered in blood was perhaps the direction so as to not sign-post too much the later events of the film. However, I would have liked to know more as to why the "Creep" got involved in this and how/why they ended up conspiring together. What happens in the film seemed a really large leap for the Sarah character and while we see the catalyst for this, I'm not really sure I saw enough to suggest she'd be part of what she ended up doing.

I'm a big fan of diegetic-only soundscapes and thought it was mostly well executed here. Probably could have just done with a few more sounds organic to the scene to ramp the tension up further, as some moments felt a little flat.

Overall, a well-executed short with a clear story. Shame about the DQ. Better luck next time.

Really enjoyed this short film. It definitely got me thinking about exactly what went on last night. Sarah seems so lovely and innocent but I'm imagining she went all in when it came to offing her boyfriend! I love a film that leaves me wanting to know what happens next... Do they run? Band together? Blame each other? Great work!

This film had all the makings of something that could be easily adapted for a feature length. Unfortunately, due to time restraints both within the film length and within the nature of the 48 hours, there were too many questions left unanswered for me! Nonetheless, I enjoyed the bitesize snippet we got. Shame about the DQ- look forward to hopefully seeing some more of you guys next year!

A gripping and compelling narrative full of mystery and dark implications.

Some really great work here gang - well done tackling a non-linear narrative with 100% cohesion. Locations are great too, I appreciated being outside, seeing the van, and the night club look great as well.

With a bit more polish, I could see a film like this doing well in the competition. It's almost like you needed just a bit more time ahhahaha, what a frustrating thing to say in a review for a 48Hours film.

My main gripes with the film would be the camera work could stand to be a bit sharper, and the final moment of the movie is a great filmic moment, but also tonally a bit strange as we end on a black comedy joke, while the rest of the film has been a lot more serious and scary. The acting from the male lead in particular is almost too creepy (the audience audibly shuddered when he mentioned the woman character had "no undies" on).

Challenge for next year: Perhaps invest in some higher quality cameras or learn how to make your cinematography pop.
